Since our move to new purpose built premises in 1999, there have been many changes both in how we work as a practice and also in the NHS as a whole. We have continued to grow during this time, making full use of the larger building in providing several new patient services, that were previously only available at other sites.

We are a training practice which means we are all involved in training doctors to be good GP's, and medical students in the process of becoming doctors.  This also creates an environment where all are continually ready to learn and constantly looking for ways to improve our service.

In recent times this has led us to change our phone system, the computer system and also aspects of our appointments.  We aim to continue to improve where necessary and to that end welcome your comments and suggestions

We have a great team of staff including 4 salaried GP’s, 2 trainee GP registrars, 4 Locum GP’s, 2 Practice Nurses, 3 HCA/Phlebotomists and around 20 administration staff. We pride ourselves on our friendly, knowledgeable front line team dealing with patients on a daily basis, and also our experienced “back admin” team who all started at Victoria Medical Centre as receptionists 20+ years ago.

Our population is incredibly diverse – 95.9% of the practice population is from a white background with a further 4.1% of the population originating from black, mixed or other non-white ethnic groups. Information published by Public Health England, rates the level deprivation within the practice population group as five, on a scale of one to ten, level one represents the highest levels of deprivation and level ten the lowest. Male life expectancy is comparable to the national average of 79 years with females at 83 years.
